Had an early dinner. Shared plates since not that hungry. Grilled shrimp with French bread to sop up the sauce (wonderful, fresh, cooked perfectly - with heads & shell, so be prepared to dig in), swamp fries ( pedestrian fries in standard cheese-wiz like cheese, but flavorful beef gravy elevated this dish), and medium-rare rib eye (perfectly seasoned, perfectly done, tender - one of the best I have ever had.)
    We highly recommend!

    Food - 5 stars.
Service and experience - 3 star.
    Average - 4 star.

Maybe my expectations were too high - my husband and his friends had eaten at this place earlier in the week and raved about it it so I was excited to have this be our final meal of the trip. We arrived less than ten minutes after they opened and were sad to learn they were out of the étouffée as they were still making it. The eta on the product being finished was over an hour - around 1:30 - and the venue opened at noon. While the menu did say limited supplies on the section of dishes that offered étouffée I was surprised that it was not prepared when their business opened. I would suggest they alter their menu to indicate a time by which those dishes would be available, other restaurants will put notes saying "available after 1 p.m." or other notes as necessary. The food that we did order was VERY good. If you find yourself in the same situation the po boys and swamp fries were great! A friend of ours had the red beans and rice earlier in the week and raved about them too.

Regarding the service both of the waitresses were working very hard, they had three groups right at their noon opening. One was Extremely friendly and apologized for the wait and the other was short to some tables. Since the space is small we could hear what she was saying to other groups and their responses. It seemed as though she was very stressed about having several tables come in at once but from my observations nobody was rude to her. From my husband's experience this is not the norm, the staff was very friendly earlier in the week and I am guessing we caught them short staffed. I overheard the table next to me also commenting on how the server was being very short with them. We felt rushed to leave, even though there were still several tables still available.
If we were in town again I would come back to give it another try, hopefully for some of the étouffée and a day where the servers aren't stressed.

Diamond Street Bar and Grill has very good food at a very reasonable price. The portions are also quite generous given their reasonable pricing.

The seating was a bit limited and the food wasn't super quick to arrive, but the service was exceptionally friendly and attentive. This seems like a great spot for lunch, but I could see them getting packed full on a work day.

They offer daily specials in addition to their regular menu, so call ahead if you want to scope those out. I'll definitely be back to try their other offerings.

Woah! Portion sizes! Definitely get bang for your buck here! And the food is quite delicious. I visited a lot of restaurants this past trip to New Orleans, this was only one of two that I visited a second time. The service here is great! No wait time either trip I was in, once for lunch and another time for dinner. So I can's say how busy or not this place gets. Overall I'm very happy with my time spent here and suggest that you go and check it out. The BBQ shrimp is pretty amazing and the po' boys area great too!

First place we tried when coming to NOLA to visit. This was right around the corner from our hotel and we saw the great reviews so had to try it. It's right on the corner so you can't miss it. The food was so good! Walking in we were kind of skeptical because it didn't look like much but once we got settled and got our food the experience changed. We were greeted by our waitress, Maria (who was AWESOME.) Lots of cool decorations around the restaurant, that a local artist makes and they sell! Seemed like a lot of regulars were in there just hanging out so it was cool to be amongst the locals.

We started off with the barbecue shrimp. HUGE PRAWNS.. and you get a lot.. about 13. They are pretty spicy but are served with French bread to help with the heat. We dipped our bread in the sauce that the shrimp was in and that was delicious. The shrimp do come whole so be prepared to pull off head, tail, and veins.

Next we tried the shrimp poboy. VERY good and I can always appreciate a nice simple sandwich. I'm not a huge fan of fancy sauces so this was perfect for me. It came with lettuce, tomato and mayo. That's all it needed.

We also tried the roast beef poboy. When my sister ordered it I thought, "that is going to be nasty." I took 1 bite and wished I would've gotten that. SO flavorful and the bread didn't get too soggy. They got that sandwich right!

The regular fries & swamp fries we had to try and those were good too! Love the Louisiana style fries and the extra toppings on the swamp fries sealed the deal.

I loved how homey this place felt. Nothing fancy about it, just good ole food. Maria made us last the entire time and gave us that good southern welcome. We wanted to go back but they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and we had many other places to try so we didn't make it. When we go back it is a definite place to hit up.

If you're a drinker, there's a bar area when you first walk into the restaurant.
